
Maui Beaches – A Handful of the Best
Although Maui has some of the best beaches in the world, some on the Valley Island are better than others. Here are a few of the islands best.
Kaanapali Beach
It’s probably Maui’s most famous beach. The golden sands are lined with luxury resorts and the clear, warm ater is perfect for snorkeling and swimming. His beach is one of the more bustling on Maui. Set against several hotels and a shopping center, it is the beach on Maui to see and be seen. It’s a whirl of activity that include departure points for snorkeling and diving cruises, wonderful oceanfront restaurants and shopping. This beach offers several lifeguards, restrooms and showers.
Kamaole Beach
More of a series of three beaches that make up almost the entire Kihei coast, these beaches are the popular destination for islanders and tourists from the throngs of vacation rentals and condominiums of South Maui. The beach offers islanders a place to take in afternoon canoe practices, to boogie board. It also is a place where island families gather for weekend picnics and celebrations. The lifeguarded beach has a few picnic tables, restrooms and showers.
Keawakapu Beach
Tucked away between Kihei and the resorts of upscale Wailea, this beach is a local favorite. The generous shoreline and clear and warm waters offer residents a place to some and relax, swim and sun along Maui’s sunniest coast. It is not unusual to see folks arriving with kids, beach toys and picnics in tow. The beach offers portable restrooms and showers. Limited parking is available nearest the beach and an overflow lot is available across the street.
Kapalua Bay
This beach is one of West Maui’s wonders. Set at the edge of the Kapalua Resort, this beach offers a picture postcard setting complete with views of the neighboring islands of Lanai and Molokai. The beach has a rocky shoreline and a sandy bottom that is perfect for snorkeling or just swimming. There is a small parking lot at the edge of the resort, several lifeguards, showers and restrooms.
